Talking to Caroline Leroux

Creatives Talk is a series of conversations with progressive creatives across all industries. Meet our founder, Caroline Leroux.

No walls
My journey has been a blend of creativity and entrepreneurship. International, non-linear. New frontiers, different cultures, chance encounters. Discover, stand still for a while, move on and start again.

Where is home?
Good question. Where the heart is I guess. And mine is all over the place. I grew up in France, studied and worked in Paris and London, moved to Sydney for 10 years, came back to London for another decade. Then New York.

Why did you decide to build CSUPER®?
To improve my life, to work with like-minded people I can progress with and learn from. To make beautiful things. It wasn’t born from a need to disrupt anything, but the fact is — creativity as a commercial practice needs disrupting. Like Dostoyevsky’s Idiot, I believe the world will be saved by beauty.

Books on your coffee table
Angela Y. Davis / Tschabalala Self, Art on the Frontline: Mandate for a People’s Culture and The Long-legged Fly by James Sallis. I was in New Orleans recently, one of my favorite cities, and both books seemed appropriate.

Your process
Mainly curiosity. I love to talk to people who do completely different things, with passion. Then, like all creatives, I absorb, digest, get influenced, only to climb back into my own head to dream up something new.

Creative freedom
Not having to do the same thing twice.

Personal motto
Have the courage of your convictions.

Advice to young creatives
Feel first, process later. There is nothing wrong with being emotive. Take it personally, creative production of any kind is always personal. The way you see the world is your gift, your work is your gift, and no one can take this away from you.
